Summer is almost over – what shall we do next?
With summer almost over (sadly) I thought I would “pen” a little update.
Back in early July when Boris gave the green light for campsites to open our little gang in the forest (The Six Musketeers) celebrated – to be fair we never need much of an excuse to crack open a bottle of vino! Sadly the celebration turned out to be a little premature when a few days later we learned that Camping In The Forest had taken the decision not to open any of it’s sites this year. We would allowed to stay on one of their other sites for the rest of the season, but with no work on the horizon it was time for some job hunting. Unfortunately there were also quite a few of us in the same boat and we all found ourselves scrambling for the same jobs. Fortunately within a week all Six Musketeers had managed to secure some work for the rest of the season.
Notice given to Matt H that my “career” as a contact tracer would be coming to an end, we packed up, bid farewell to our forest friends and headed to our new jobs in Cornwall. We have spent the last couple of months running a new site nr. Newquay – we do like a challenge 🙂 The people here are lovely and it’s been a great base to explore some of the Cornish coast on our days off, although maybe not as much as we would have liked due to the very mixed weather we have experienced. With our contract drawing to a close we needed to decide what we wanted to do next. Normally this time of year we would be excitedly making plans to head off south to the sun ASAP, but with COVID still affecting everything its not been so easy. After a few weeks of changing our minds on almost an hourly basis I think we have now got a rough plan (but things could still change). We have managed to secure another short contract this time on a small site at Lynton, North Devon. Hopefully when we finish work there in early November we will head to Portugal for the winter. However we have also reserved a seasonal pitch nr. Sandringham (just waiting for our Christmas lunch invite from Lizzie) for the winter as back up plan. So like everyone else we will just have to see how COVID behaves over the next few months – watch this space …
Before I go I thought I would share pics from Cornwall.
